LEARNED THIS ONE SAURDAY AFTERNOON ON PBS
This was my childhood church.
In my forties I discovered that the later to be Congressman John Lewis had his skull fractured across the street on May 9, 1961 when he and a group of civil rights Freedom Riders pulled into town. (one block from the library)
John Lewis was 21. I was soon to be 4 and was eight city blocks away.
