Ipswich, Massachusetts
One night I drove with a friend named Kregg in a heavy snowstorm from the little village of South Hamilton, Mass. to another nearby village called Ipswich for dinner.
New Bern, North Carolina
Linda and I "discovered" the beautiful city of New Bern on a trip to the North Carolina coast many years ago. One of our evenings there was spent having a great dinner at a waterfront restaurant and then taking a pleasant stroll through the park on the point at the confluence of the Neuse and Trent rivers.
"So, what's your story?"
When I was in college, a friend looked at me one day and said, "So, what's your story?" I can remember experiencing strong feelings of panic, confusion and inadequacy. Although I didn't immediately say it, my response slowly congealed in my head, "I don't have a story. I'm just a plumber's kid from Rock Hill, South Carolina." I was right about the last parts, but could not have been more wrong about the first part. During the past five years or so, I have discovered a great deal about the larger story of my life. As I get started on this blog, I would like to share some of those things with you. I do this not because I think that you should be interested in the particulars of my life, but rather in the hope that my journey might launch you on an exploration of your own greater story.
